WHICH BOOTS HAVE A STEEL TOE?
Keeping yourself protected and safe in the workplace is imperative, knowing what kind of footwear to wear based on the job you’re doing is important too.
Making sure that you’re investing in the right kind of work footwear means you’ll be able to keep focused on the job at hand and not worried about your feet. When it comes to purchasing new work boots, we recommend considering either Steel Toe or Composite Toe boots depending on what your work entails.
WHAT ARE STEEL TOE (ST) CAP BOOTS?
Whilst all work boots generally offer some kind of protection around the toe area, you’ll find that steel toe boots have a reinforced piece of metal sitting directly above the toe area to help protect your feet from hazards that might be at your feet, making steel toe boots a great all rounder.
WHAT ARE COMPOSITE TOE (CT) BOOTS?
Similar to steel toe caps, Composite Toe Boots come with a reinforced toe, except they have a toe reinforced with metal free materials like Carbon Fibre. More lightweight, they are ideal for electricians as a composite toe won’t conduct electricity.
Composite Toe caps feature the same impact resistance as Steel Toe caps, at 200 Joules, although these boots tend to weigh in 50% lighter than steel, helping to decrease overall foot fatigue and making it ideal for anyone working long hours on their feet, or those who have a high step count.
Additional features of a composite safety toe include a toe that is anti-corrosive, non-metallic, non-magnetic, and non-conductive.
We recommend considering the environment you’ll be working in, and what level of protection you will need, in deciding on the best style for you.
You can find more information including product features in the product description. As well as a glossary of CAT Workwear Technology, in our website footer.

HOW DO I WEAR IN AND CARE FOR MY PRODUCTS?
With the right approach and a bit of care, you can ensure a comfortable fit and lasting wear.
FINDING THE PERFECT FIT
Before diving into breaking in your new shoes, ensure you've got the right fit. A properly fitting shoe should feel snug at the heel and midfoot, with wiggle room around the toes.TAKE IT SLOW
Start by wearing your new shoes for short periods, gradually increasing wear time. Wear them around the house initially, so you can easily take them off if discomfort arises. For leather styles, wearing thick socks offers added cushioning and aids in accelerating the softening process.
TIGHTEN UP THOSE LACES
Keep your laces snug to encourage the shoe to mold to your foot and prevent slipping and rubbing.SILENCE THE SQUEAK
Squeaky shoes are often due to moisture or friction. To fix this, use baby or talcum powder. Where possible, sprinkle powder inside, and let it sit overnight. Shake out excess powder the next day.KEEP UP THE CARE

We recommend using a protector to form a barrier against dirt and stains, making cleaning easier. For cleaning, promptly remove excess dirt or moisture to prevent long-term damage, always use cleaning products specifically designed for sneakers, and avoid washing them in the machine, as this can damage fastenings and glue.
